Santa Monica knife sharpening

Love the grind

I’m a professional sharpener in Santa Monica, and the best way to contact me is to call or text me, at 310-486-6068

I work from my home. So always contact me before coming by to ensure I have time to help you.

3 Japanese japanese knives, resting on two natural Japanese whetstones

I have been sharpening for 35 years and have sharpened over a quarter million knives so far, and have had a few different sharpening businesses on the way. I sharpen and hone most things that need to be super sharp, but I specialize in knives, scissors, and shears. I do all of my knife sharpening on whetstones now more, but for repairs, thinning, reprofiling, and rebeveleing I use machines as needed.

For scissors and shears, I either use a Japanese water flat hone, or guided shears sharpening machine with jigs sharpening on microfilm and polishing them on felt wheels with diamond paste.

Whatever tools I use, it is to get the absolute best result and the best possible edge for its intended use.

Picture from back in the day when we started KnifeAid, me in the middle (I love hats) with my minions.

If you wonder why you should sharpen your knives, well the fastest way is to go to our friend google and search for “Magnus Pettersson knife sharpener”. If that isn’t enough, go to Yelp and read the hundred oldest reviews for KnifeAid there. When we started it we just continued with my Yelp page.

Lets talk about my prices

$15 For all ordinary double-bevel knives and that covers most minor blade repairs.

$30 and up for all single-beveled knives.

$10 For household scissors and fabric shears.

$15-35 for barber shears, stylist shears, and convex hair shears.

But I always consider barter for things I would buy anyway. Hats, fine sneakers, speakers, weed, good scotch, wine, meals, drinks, cool tools I don’t have, and other services.

Yes, I sharpen serrated knives too!

Just call or text me, and we will set it up: 310-486-6068. The address is 1423 Euclid street, Santa Monica 90404
